One of the newest cake makers in central New Jersey, Kelly Huschke, the founder of What’s Cakin’, began designing cakes after watching a demonstration on a morning news show. She decided it didn’t look all that hard and started experimenting with her own cakes. She has spent the last year perfecting her craft and pushing the art of baking to a new level!
With both scholastic and professional experience in many fields of fine art including graphic & web design, 3-D design/sculpture, architectural drafting/design and digital imaging, she sees the process of creating a cake as just another way to express her artistic abilities and vision. Each cake is approached just like a sculpture-- by sketching out ideas, scouring around for innovative materials and putting a lot of thought into how to assure a sturdy construction. Most importantly, when a customer orders a cake from What's Cakin', she would like each of them to feel as if they have complete creative control to choose whatever they can dream up -- from filling and flavor to shape and style --and then to be confident that this vision will become a tasty reality in front of their eyes!
